Cr4+:YAG Laser Crystal

Cr4+:YAG (Yttrium Aluminum Garnet doped with Chromium ions)  is a laser crystal that is an excellent crystal for passively Q-switching diode pumped or lamp-pumped Nd: YAG, Nd: YLF, Nd: YVO4, or other Nd and Yb doped lasers at a wavelength from 0.8 to 1.2 µm. It is an Excellent crystal for high repetition rate electro-optical applications and can handle high power pulses and get to a fairly high laser damage threshold. The material is not hygroscopic and has a High extinction ratio.

The Cr4+ ions in the crystal act as an active laser medium, while the YAG crystal matrix provides mechanical stability and high thermal conductivity. The Q-switch, also known as a mode locker, is an optical switch that controls the build-up and release of laser energy within the cavity, allowing for the generation of high-energy, short-pulse laser beams. This type of laser is widely used in medical, industrial, and scientific applications such as laser cutting, laser welding, and laser marking.
